Just A Short Walk north of Meadowmont Village and directly across Meadowmont Lane from the Cedars is UNC's new Wellness Center at Meadowmont



Affiliated with and operated by UNC Hospitals, the Wellness Center at Meadowmont is an integrated health system-based model that combines traditional fitness center amenities with clinical services, complementary and alternative therapies, in conjunction with health education programs enabling clients to maximize physical health and well being.

Membership is open to anyone in the community at-large. Clinical programs and services will focus on working with clinicians to help those individuals with chronic conditions and those recovering from acute illness develop wellness plans by providing rehabilitation, education and structured lifestyle management programs with an emphasis on prevention.

Clients can exercise with confidence, and if they should need it, the expertise and caring of UNC Health Care is there. The Center will be staffed by trained professionals in exercise physiology, nutrition and athletic training augmented by the on-site clinical staff in physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation and alternative medicine.

Program Components Membership-based fitness center; physical therapy; cardiac rehabilitation; complementary and alternative medicine; community health education; and, limited specialty services.

Facility Highlights 52,000 square feet of space over two levels; indoor walking/running track; two indoor pools — a 5-lane, 25-yard fitness pool and a warm water therapy pool; two aerobics studios; large fitness area with over 150 pieces of cardiovascular and strength equipment; teaching kitchen and classrooms; multi-purpose gym; wellness resource library; and, comfortable locker and shower facilities.
